MOXLEY TOUR - FOLLOWED BY MUSIC AT THE RORKE STORE LOFT
The Moxley Tours start on Friday, July 15 and will be held each Friday until August 19.
These Tours allow our earlier residents to tell their stories and allow us to take a glimpse into the past. Combined with music and sometimes a little more! the Tours are led by local historian, Bert Parsons in company with some very interesting characters. Tours leave the side gate of Bethany United Church Cemetery at 7 pm, on Fridays and tickets ($5) are sold at the gate.
Directly following the Tours, patrons are invited to return to the Loft little theatre in the Rorke Museum, and enjoy a variety of entertainment by local singers, musicians and storytellers over the summer. Of course nobody leaves without our signature "Bed Night Lunch", which is our salute to the Labrador fishers whose story is told on the main floor Exhibit, called "Balancing the Scales".
Just recently installed on the second floor of the Rorke Store Museum, is the Exhibit called "Going Foreign". This Exhibit is on loan from the Carbonear Heritage Society and further details the Salt Fish Trade and its many and varied journeys overseas.
We also welcome group tours, weddings, and photo opportunities in the historic Rorke Store Museum. Or just drop by whenever you are in the area.
