The Carbonear Public Library is operated by Newfoundland and Labrador Public Libraries and is located on Water Street, in the Conception Bay Regional Community Centre (second floor) which also houses the Princess Sheila Nageira Theatre and Town Council office. In addition to traditional books, it offers many services and events.
The library is a friendly place for people of all ages. In May 2014, the Jerry and Bobby Thoms Children's Library was opened.
These services are offered FREE:
Wireless Internet Access,
Scanning, Talking Books,
DVDs & Videos,
Magazines, and Story Time
The following services are offered for a small fee: Color and Laser Printing, Fax,
Digital Camera for Loan, and Photocopying.

Children have their own area with comfortable seats and tables for selecting books and Story Time
The Libraary is a place where children feel at home.
Let's Talk Poetry" sessions, where local poets share their own poetry with an audience. and frequently gives public presentations of their work. (Florence Button and Shane Verge reading Shane's poem "Newfoundland")
Local Traditional Musicians perform Port of "What Odds " - A musical foursome- Wanda Crocker (fiddle, mandolin), Gerry Strong (flute, whistle)
Authors Authors read selections from their works. Dorothy McIntosh Harvey reads selections from her CD, called Tapestry, a collection of her poems
