The Town of Carbonear is an active community where people join organizations, clubs, and other activities according to their ages and interests

All churches provide activities for their members and members of the community. They sponsor youth groups, community dinners, bake sales, gospel concerts, and other events. There are youth groups such as Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, and Air Cadets.

Princess Sheila Seniors Club.
If you are a newcomer in the area, a pensioner, 50+, or a senior, feel free to join the Princess Sheila Seniors Club, located at 163 Water Street.

Meetings are held every Wednesday night at 8:00pm from September to June. Regular monthly meetings are held the last Wednesday of every month, other Wednesday nights are "Social Nights."

Royal Canadian Air Cadets

The Kiwanis Club is very active, sponsoring among other events the Kiwanis Music Festival for young people from all over the Baccalieu Trail. They also sponsor a Key Club at Carbonear Collegiate. The Masonic Lodge #1043 was chartered in 1908. The Lodge meets at the Masonic Temple, Masonic Avenue, Carbonear on the second Thursday of the months of September to May at 8:00 p.m.

The Knights of Columbus is an active organization, sponsoring community dinners and dances and other events.

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #23, Kinsmen & Kinettes, the Loyal Orange Lodge, and the Lions Club are also active in the community.
