FIBRE ARTS EXHIBIT

The Fibre Arts Exhibit on August 1st was held at Bethany United Church and featured quilts, rugs, Swedish Weaving and Crochet Work done by local artists in the community. It was very well attended and by the comments in the Guest Book the visitors were delighted and amazed at the array and quality of the exhibits.

There were also artisans demonstrating the various crafts. Two interesting features were 4 generations of quilts by the Oates family going back from great-grandmother (the late Susannah Antle), grandmother ( the late Margaret Northcott), mother (Beatrice Oates) to daughter (Wynette Clarke) and an exhibit of quilts from the late Mabel Rorke who taught quilting to many of the women in Carbonear.

Visitors were also offered refreshments and musically entertained by Megan Peddle and Joshua Chubbs.

Our thanks to Bethany for hosting this event, the volunteers and many artists who contributed their time, work and demonstrated their technique.
